I went to update my DL address and they said I needed a passport. Took my old passport with AP stamp on it and they said it has to be valid since mine is expired. I have renewed my license a couple of times and I've never had to show my passport. Apparently the "law" changed. The dude was being an asshole and I told him that.

Go to another DMV or come to Illinois
. Also, usually DMV websites usually have a list of documents acceptable for identification as well as for residency requirements. If they changed the law, it would be reflected there. Not worth fighting with those morons. Get out of that stupid state.

Here in CT a passport is needed, not sure if unexpired is okay.

Just a suggestion, renew your passport. That's the only official document you have since you are undocumented.

I don't know why they need that. They're getting worse and worse. I have them my old
Passport and they didn't take it because it was expired. Now I have to get an appointment with the Mexican consulate to get a new one. Ugh.

How is it getting worse and worse? Is the correct way to do it and prevent identity theft.

How do you think people from 9/11 got their ids?

Several people here in CT were arrested for aiding 9/11 terrorists into getting licenses from the DMV.

It aint no joke, go get your passport renew.

No, it really does screw up some people.

I'm Korean and I know for a fact this is going to affect a lot of Korean guys with DACA in Georgia. Korean males have to serve in the army for about 2 years and it is a mandatory. If you don't serve in the military, your passport is not renewed. Which means they are unable to renew their driver licenses here.. I'm not a guy so it doesn't affect me but I know some people with DACA and I'm worried for them.

It's impossible to serve military and come back as it will trigger the 10 year ban which means they can't come back for 10 years..so they can't go. It really messes up for some people.
