I can't think of one state that won't give in-state tuition to someone with a conditional residency card [which DREAM would give us].

For all the others, many of us will continue fighting and calling for CIR, be it for our younger siblings, parents, or others we love. DREAM should be narrowly tailored and should have strict requirements or else we will have less of a chance to get it passed.

Again, the instate tuition portion isn't for us. Its to give other undocumented immigrants not legalized by DREAM a chance to go to college because it allows individual states the option of offering in state tuition to illegal immigrants. Unless Durbin says its necessary for passage, we shouldn't want to take out this portion. Also, believe it or not, the most controversial aspect of DREAM is still the "amnesty" part (actually DREAM is more of an amnesty than the path to legalization portion of CIR, we don't really have to pay any sort of fine or have to wait "in the back of the line" but then again, I don't think amnesty is a dirty word either).

I am about to give a speech to a prof. at college and also visit several high school where I know there are some Dreamers. It will benefit my argument fort those who are still shocekd for CIR collapse to give some kind of hope and a desire to engage in this. As for in-state tuition. There are 65,000 high school graduates each year, from a 2.5 million students. That is less than 3% of the population. Some of those cannot benefit from Dream 'cause they did some crimes. Most students are going to join the army anyway. Only a tiny percentage is actually going to college. The costs are minimal. Our enemies estimate that 1,000,000 are going to benefit from Dream because they assume that everybody is going to qualify, go to college, even those who are under 30 and graduated, say 7 years ago. Our allies think is less than 400,000 including those with college degrees! That is why they say it is unjust for us to reveive in state tuition. Unless, they are ignorant jerks they just claim is unjust, not economically unfeasible. If they want to help minorities and the poor white to get a college degree, they could start by closing all the loopholes that allow a person to leach ten years of community college without making more than 20 units. don't get me started with those people, already wrote plenty about them. sorry for all the spelling errors. I know I look uneducated, but I have an excused...I am truly uneducated!
