My eAD expired 08/17
and all my calls the reps said they have everything - Streamlined approved" and today in response to my inquiry about my case I get this response:
Good afternoon,

This e-mail is in response to the inquiry regarding your Form I-821D, Consideration of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, and Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, which was filed with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on March 31, 2016. The Nebraska Service Center (NSC) is currently processing DACA renewal cases received prior to March 16, 2016. There is no authorization to allow expedited processing of DACA renewals.

USCIS records indicate that your DACA case received an initial review by an officer. However, a background check process was subsequently initiated in your case; and it is not yet complete.
Please note that a small percentage of immigration applications and petitions have unresolved background check issues that can delay adjudication. Although USCIS makes every effort to resolve such cases promptly, USCIS is unable to determine when the background check process will be completed in your case. If a background check reveals an issue that may impact eligibility for a requested immigration benefit, further inquiry is needed. The inquiry may include an interview and/or contact with another agency or USCIS office for updates or more comprehensive information. Upon gathering and assessing all available information, USCIS will adjudicate the application as quickly as possible.

The National Customer Service Center’s toll free number is 1 800 375 5283 or you may access the CIS web site at www.uscis.gov should you have any further questions or need additional information.

Regards,

USCIS Nebraska Service Center

what do they mean by " However, a background check process was subsequently initiated in your case; and it is not yet complete."
Anyone else have a similar response?

I had a hunch that this delay in that Feb-May block could be due to the biometrics/background checks. It makes no sense that we can see our own applications in ELIS but they can't, IF that was the case.

Now I just wonder why they won't notify this group of people of a corruption and ask they go take their biometrics again. I'm sure many who have expired would do it as many times as needed if they said so.

Sorry to hear your renewal is still pending. I completely sympathize with your situation especially since your expiration date has passed.

Do you have any reason to believe USCIS found a problem during your background check? Honestly, it just seems like your application was part of their ELIS data corruption fiasco; are you able to view your scanned application via the "new and improved" ELIS web portal? Also, what has the NILC said to you regarding your renewal status?

Congrats! I am sure this renewal delay will be a distant memory once you become a PR. Best of luck.

From my understanding, USCIS suffered a data corruption that affected a number of DACA renewals. USCIS has not publicly disclosed the extent of the corruption, but people here have received confirmation from L2 officers that such loss did occur. I think what VJB2 is hinting at is that Ryker's case is one of those affected, which means that his/her biometrics data was lost. We don't know why USCIS has not contacted these applicants since it seems unlikely that they will be able to retrieve the corrupted data.

They might be trying to save face. They rather have people expire and try to mine the data then admit to a problem of this magnitude.
