Hi, has anyone recently renewed a Washington State DL? mine is up for renewal next month and I'm trying to see if there are any red tapes or hoops to jump through like the initial application process like providing proof of residence and all that. I guess I could always call and ask but there is nothing more reassuring than someone else's personal experience. If Anyone with recent info can share I would reaaaalllly appreciate it.

No personal experience with the renewal but it sounds like you can just do it online or in person and they'll mail it to your address on file. If you have a new address, change it first before doing the renewal. Also, it looks like they've extended expiration for most people to 6 years, but using a weird formula so that not everybody's is due at the same time so if someone is renewing this year, a small percentage will get a 4 year renewal and the year after it would be a 3 year renewal. price is adjusted for those who get the short end of the stick.

IamAman...I looked into the online option but the form was asking for ssn, also its not valid for Identification if its renewed online And I do need it for ID. They claim only those who received renewal notice in the mail will be allowed to renew through mailing.

Thanks for the tip RE: the six year expiration thingee, I was under the impression that across the board everyone would get six years, so thats good to know. I'm gonna fly in later this week to do it in person...I just hope there are no surprises, as the DMV there is famous for not disclosing details so they can have that gotcha! moment when you show up and they ask for extra proof of stuff.

The Pacific Northwest is lovely in the summer. Let us know how it goes. I prefer the fall there myself.

Yes it is! I went ast week, It was super hectic, flew in and flew out the same day. For some reason seattle is one of the most expensive places to fly into from the east coast and the hotels are just as pricey.

I realize there aren't too many people who are doing the Washington DL thing because most have gotten their DL from DACA. So for anyone who needs to renew but don't still have addy still there like me, If you know anyone in WA state who will let you mail it to their addy that is the only way you are gonna get it. They give you a temp and the permanent one has to be mailed to you in the state. JUST a heads up.

If y'all need more details just PM me. I do have to say it was a bit depressing, when I had to roll over the fact that I actually applied 5 yrs ago, and never in a million years did I think I would go back to renew, Lol. I really thought I would have had a break by now, and wouldn't have to go back to WA just to still be able to drive. ((sigh)))

"other" people also thought they wouldn't have to go back to renew. At least now that those with DACA can get it in their local state, there are many less people having to do this and draws less attention. There are also many RV people who don't have a permanent address so they have to get creative as well so we err I mean you are in good company.

The city has gotten very expensive however in the last few years and some areas have more than doubled so that's creating issues for the locals who fear the city is going to end up being like San Francisco - that is people with high paying tech jobs coming in and driving people who have lived there for years away. Worse yet, those coming in have no appreciating for Seattle's wonderful and open culture.

They made this parody of the Amazon employee ad:

pink can you please share your experience in renewing your DL , were there any surprises to renew for us cool kids on the block without a SSN ? My brother is up for renewal , I called the dmv and they said a letter was mailed and that should say what is required to renew , but as my bro is currently bot in WA he does not have it .., so I am hopeful it's just show up , say you want to renew , they give you a temp and the card is mailed to the addy on file .. Please share your experience ..

I just went today in NC, a notorious republican state, old DL before expires, and DACA EAC card and you're good to go.
