I just got back to the states after travelling on advance parole.

I applied for AP for humanitarian reasons. My application was received on July 7 and it was approved on September 2.

Last Wednesday, September 21st, I went to my home country (Mexico) to visit my family, I stayed for 7 days and returned this past Tuesday. I travelled by plane both ways through Dallas/Fort Worth International airport. When I arrived back I went to the non-citizens lane with my declarations form which I had filled out on the plane, and then I approached the immigration officer.

He asked for my visa and passport. I handed him my Advance Parole documents inside my passport. They must be more familiar with AP documents because he said "there should be two of these" to himself. He then took my fingerprints and photos and interviewed me at the same time. He then escorted me to secondary inspection.

The officer was very nice, and even allowed my USC wife and son to go in with me.

I sat in the small room 40 minutes until another officer called my name. I went to the window where he was, and asked me for my name then handed me my passport and advance parole both stamped no questions asked. Both were stamped with "Paroled until 9-28-16". The immigration officer marked the parole stamp with "DACA" in the purpose section.

The purpose of my trip was not only to see my family, but also to fix my unlawful entry so that I could adjust status. I completed the entire process with help from an attorney. I had actually gone to get a consultation on the new provisional waiver process, and she suggested using advance parole to cure the unlawful entry as a faster, and easier alternative.

It was a big risk to take (especially since I have a small child), but it was worth it, since I will not have to file a hardship waiver.

Congrats on your successful trip.

Basically USCIS has already said that it's safe to travel with AP, but the change to the AP instructions/guidelines are still pending.

Hello from a long time ago!! This is the forum that gave me a gleam of hope when I felt I was drowning. I am now going back to Mexico after 25 years thanks to DACA and I want to show you guys, and so many others, the journey. I am running an indiegogo. Please check it out! Contribute if you can' even if it's just a few dollars, I know it's hard, but I need help telling this story so anything is helpful! Also check out the 4 minute video on the page www.MiVidaDACA.com. Yay! Thank you!!

I applied for AP (for work related reasons) in March 2016 and received the permit in late April, traveled to Mexico in May for a couple days and returned safely through the San Ysidro / Tijuana border, no questions asked, everything went smooth. I have now applied for Ajustment of Status via my USC wife. Just wanted to write here and see if anyone had any questions, maybe I can help, thanks again!
Hi Fernando, what were the work related reasons?

Did you file the AOS yourself?

To meet with a potential business partner for the company. Yes applied for AOS by myself in September and I'm now waiting to have my interview scheduled, going pretty fast. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi everyone,

I recently began following this forum and it has been very helpful. I was finally approved after 5 months for my (2nd) DACA renewal on October 10, 2016. Now, I can finally apply for AP based on humanitarian reasons. I am not applying through an attorney since the application and supporting evidence are self-explanatory. However, I have not received the EAD, and according to USCIS, it is still pending production. I did receive the I-821D notice.

My question is, is the EAD necessary to get approved/show more supporting evidence for AP? I will definitely include the I-821D in my app, however I am afraid that the EAD won't be included since I still have not gotten it. I want to send out my application by the end of this week and hope for a response in mid December.
I would appreciate any advice!

Hi everyone! So I really looked into applying for advanced parole since 2015 but I have always been really scared to do it. And my number one reason as to why that is, is because both my parents are here in the US and I only have my grandparents and a few uncles in Mexico. Which I am dying to see soon. Both grandparents are getting older and I would hate for the unthinkable to happen without me getting to see them one last time. Ive been hearing positive results the whole entire time I have been subscribed, but I would love to hear more feedback on how you guys applied. Did you guys do it on your own, what kind of documents did you guys use for humanitarian reasons? I just need more information on that coming from you guys. I greatly appreciate it!!

I did both of my applications my own, one for school and another for my wife's grandmothers illness. The school one got approved but I wasn't able to go because I got denied my visa to Canada. The second one got denied as she had diabetes and they said it was not "emergent". I've heard is easier to get approved if it's your own family member. It all depends on what illness your grandparents have. I wouldn't use an attorney for my first time applying, but in my case (3rd time applying) I'll be using one.

Hi everybody,

How long did it take for you to get a response from USCIS in regards to AP? I submitted my application today and I am hoping to travel in mid December if I am approved.
