No, it doesn't affect you because you came legally.

My girlfriend and I were planning to get married next month even before he was elected. Hopefully all of our current EADs will not be revoked, otherwise I will have a gap between that ending and my adjustment of status taking place. I am still worried though, we are a same sex couple and I'm scared that some day they might take back our right to marry. Who knows what would happen to me then.. I also wonder if they could possibly stop allowing us to apply for legal status even through marriage. It just seems like everything horrible is now possible.

I am still so lost...why is everyone worried that by losing their EAD, it will ruin their AOS chances??

Are you EWI and working on AP to gain a legal entry update on your record? Then OK I understand...

Because if you entered legally from before, then your AOS should work out just fine...right? (Authorization to work or not)...or am I just misinformed????

I did enter legally. I am only afraid that my EAD will be invalidated because I don't want to go through a period where I'm once again unprotected and unable to legally work. I know it won't stop my marriage from adjusting my status, but I would obviously prefer for there to be no gap. Does that make sense? I would assume that the adjustment would take maybe 3 or so months?

I am going on this route. It will be my last resort if the Republicans decides to do something stupid.

I got marry in September through civil. Original intentions were to obtain green card in order to staay in the engineering field in my state. Now it will be used as a back up against the Republicans.

I filled out most of paperwork. Waiting on immunization shots and physical.

Also waiting on moving together. We are looking for a house to buy so we can move in.

PM if anybody has questions.

I honestly don't think I will follow through with this AOS because of not living together. I have hopes of something good coming out of Trump next year.

Having hope for Trump doing something good for us, as soon as next year even, is bold...

...I am just hoping he just doesn't mess with DACA at least...I consider this a more neutral move than good move

I think there were circumstances which allowed you to not live together. One of them I think was going to school. I know it would be preferable, but not a definite most, depending on the circumstances.

I am going this route.

I realized that after Obama, anyone could be president and my future would be at stake because DACA is such an easy thing to rescind and doing so would be a great political checkpoint for conservatives. Marriage is the only route for a lot of us.

So Last year on November 15 2015, I applied for Expedited Advanced Parole and got approved after a month. I traveled from Dec-18-30. I wanted to get married asap, but I didn't want to be that toxic girlfriend that demands a ring. My boyfriend (now husband) was aware of the time crunch, but I told him to take his time to know if he really wants to make this vow before proposing to me.

We've been together for 5 years total, but guys. From Dec-May, I was on my best behavior lol. I made amazing dinners, fancy french gallantines, Indian food, chinese, viet, homemade carrot cakes every other week, perfect pork chops, steak custom sliced from the butcher shop. He knew what I was doing, and was laughing about it the whole time, saying I don't need to go through all this and he loves me no matter what. I had to make sure and go the extra mile lol. He popped the question in May 2016 and we got married in July.

We submitted all the greencard + new workpermit (not the DACA one) on Sept 26. I just did the biometrics yesterday (Nov 10). My current DACA expires in Dec 2017. We're hoping to receive the new workpermit by then so I don't have a gap where I can't work, but we're prepared for the worst in case that does happen and we're saving up.

I think you will be fine. Those usually came quick. I remember I did my grandmothers I-485 and she had a work permit after a 2 months of waiting.... then surprise a week later she got her greencard.

Wow, only 2 months?! What a lucky lady!

Thanks, that gives me hope.
