This was a bad idea in retrospect

A lot of the comments on there make me feel incredibly hopeless.

I have tried to explain DACA to some many people have gotten the "well your parents broke the law, so fuck you get out" response more often than not.

This thread does seem to heavily be going the same way ...

I dont have time to create a reddit account now to make this point:

There is NO law in place for DACA recipients. Literally NONE. We were brought here as children, not knowing our situation, going to school like any other american kid and then one day we turn 16 and realize we cannot get a drivers license. Then we turn 18 and start doing research and realize we HAVE to leave the country within 180 days or face a 10 year ban. So we have to leave a country many of us have grown in for the majority of our life just because there is no law addressing our situation. We cannot even join the military. Guys a lot of those against DACA do not realize we are unable to do ANYTHING. They THINK we can just go through the existing process, but that is NOT the case. And this is the point we MUST point out. The immigration system is broken for US.

Our parents broke the law, yes, but the kids like us should have a chance to go through the process considering our situation. All we are asking for is a law be created to allow us to PAY and go through a process to become residents and then citizens. There is no negative about that.

I personally feel my parents deserve to be deported, there are indeed laws for a reason. I may be in the minority here, and I grew up with a lot of hatred in my heart for my parents bringing me here, and even though I realized they did it for a better opportunity I still KNOW they did not do it the right way like the legal immigrants did. As such, the only way to get our points across is to accept that our parents deserve some kind of penalty, whereas we deserve our chance to make a life for ourselves.

I fully expect backlash against my opinion, but quite frankly DACA recipients situation is a humanitarian issue while visa overstayers are law breakers.

It's pointless trying to explain our situation to them... yeah maybe few of them will listen but most people are just clueless when it comes to immigration. They don't know s***. They think it's easy as getting in line to buy McDonalds. And honestly, they just don't care. They don't care if we were brought here without knowing we're breaking the laws. In the end, they're going to just tell us it's our parents fault and we're being punished for it. I've had too many of these conversations and verbal fights and it all led to nothing but even more frustration on my side.
