This thread is meaningless. It also says obamacare will be reapeal but trump is already saying he'll keep portions of it. Many might just be symbolic promises

Yes, Trump does have apathy to immigration reform. Freud was right.

I like 2Face and few other's optimism here.

However, we need to face reality and not continue to fill ourselves with false hope. The odds of Donald canceling DACA is high, and CIR is unknown but I doubt it will be considered seriously. Some members here really need to stop with this "please stop giving us bad news, Trump is going to give us relief" optimism because we don't know what's happening, and there are more reasons to believe that trump will cancel DACA than not cancel it.

Let's not be false optimists here. Let's face reality so that all of us are prepared mentally and financially when DACA does get cancel. We're not 5 year olds here; we need to accept all possibilities. Not be revisionist or promoting false optimism.

I don't think the republicans or trump are ready for the backlash of canceling DACA. That's one way to have the public sympathize with us. Imagine the testimonials? "I just want to work and pay taxes." "My parents brought me here when I was a baby." We are not the demonized version of immigrants he paints.

That's why Donald won, right? Big portion of Donald's campaign was to mass deport and build a wall. I have two coworkers who voted for Trump, and their main reason was because of immigration. And I live and work in NYC. This anti-immigration sentiment is much stronger than you think. If Donald cared so much for public backlash, his whole campaign would have been PG.

My guess is he will halt DACA, let our current work authorization expire. Is he going to replace DACA with something? Odds are, no. Unless Democrats win both house and senate in 2 years, which is also a daunting task considering young people do not vote in midterm elections and usually swing Republican. Let's hope CIR does happen under Republican dominance here in hopes that they can earn our vote, but there's going to be a lot of backlash within that base.

A different campaign is ran when you are trying to appeal to your base. Why do you think obama and the democrats promise immigration reform and then never come through. Because after you become president you have to appeal to a wider electorate to remain in power. All these crooked politicians are just worried about reelection and with trump filling his administration with the lobbyist republicans want him to add he is no different. Trump will be a puppet president controlled by Paul Ryan.

Everyone says Trump will be a puppet to somebody (Pence, Ryan, Putin, etc.). We will see if this is the case.

I understand promises made on campaign do not come to fruition once in office, this is normal part of politics. Generally compromises are made. Let's hope DACA is part of that compromise.

Paul Ryan is leading the Republican Party. I highly doubt he will just allow trump to cancel DACA with no plan for us. That would be a really bad public relations move for the GOP. They have to compromise now as well if trump wants congress to help him pass his agenda.

The GOP knows the shifting demographics mean they can only squeeze out a white voting electorate for so long. They have to move in the direction the country is headed sooner rather than later.
