I read you guys and I feel like I not freaking out enough

Im just going to keep working if I get thrown out because of the permit, than Ill go back to my previous job
tax preparer. But in my field construction I have seen people who are deported still working. When companies need the working hand they dont care about the status.

I dont consider going anywhere.

I plan on going back to my country of birth. I can't go back to working under the table and not having a driver's license. On the bright side, I would finally be able to travel around the world and not just the United States.

I think you mean the I-601, but I don't see why it wouldn't be possible as long as you legally reside within Canada.

I am actually wondering if Trump will reverse the ability to stay within the United States for the I-601A as well. I get the impression he will reset all favorable executive action made by the current President while allocating a lot more money for enforcement.

If they try to deport us after taking DACA away, can't we fight it in court and then probably receive residency? I've known people who were about to be deported (for something insignificant) and they fought it in court and now they're US residents. I just know not to sign any deportation documents unless you have talked to a lawyer.

No, it does not work like that. One cannot receive residency unless it is a specific benefit they are eligible to apply for. All forms of residency have very specific criteria that must be met. It is why it is so difficult to immigrate in the first place no matter the location.

We also have constitutional rights. I know each case is different but we all deserve a trial before being deported. The 14th Amendment states: "No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." Of course, it doesn't mean we're going to gain permanent residency but we can be hopeful.

I think this is what echoes with me the most...I do not want to go back to driving without a valid driver license. I do not want to go back to work without a permit. I do not wanna go back to having to stay in my house and in my local area because I cannot travel. I do not want to go back to fearing deportation. I do not want to go back to be at the mercy of politicians that do things based on popularity and not what's actually best for people. I do not want to go back to uncertainty.

If worst was to happen...I will keep on saving until I cannot work anymore. I will then sell everything I have here and move on with my life. I will move back to my home country (Mexico). I will travel around. I will lift the burden I have been carrying for more than 15 years, and then MOVE ON.

And then...good riddance. Thank you USA, you did not offer me enough to pursue my happiness but you gave me enough to become what I am today.

Damn preachhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I definitely feel you on the first two paragraphs. Bro I
keep telling myself there really isn't a worse case scenario for me(unless he holds me in some poisonous chamber). The thing that's killing me is this suspense!!!! I hate this whole not knowing what's coming next. GOD forbid I get deported but at least I can't be kicked to the curb by my home country

Well said bud. A lot of us feel the same way. There's a difference between people who live and thrive for freedom while never experienced it, and people who reached freedom then has it taken away.

When it's time, then the hard choice to leave is the one we'll have to make. Be thankful for the experiences we've gained and try to use them to the fullest in the future to come.

If the American system doesn't want our contributions, we'll take it elsewhere.

Anyone from Guadalajara wanna room? LOL

In all seriousness, those of you planning to go back to Mexico, how is it possible to make a living without any degrees? I do photography and I was just starting out my own small business here in Los Angeles doing weddings and quinceañeras but I still have a weekday job as my main income. Anyone have any suggestions? I thought about becoming a flight attendant.
