Hi -

I recently went to a DMV in NJ to get my license renewed and was stopped short of the process because that office could not verify my immigration status.

I brought all of the following documentation with me as proof and still they were not able to verify via, I suppose, their in-house verification process.

Documents:
> Utility Bill
> EAD Card
> SSN Card
> ATM Card
> Current Driver's License

After the person at the desk sat with my documentation for about 10 minutes, all he said was that I had to check in with the SAVE system within 3-5 days to see if the status of my Verification was updated and then I had to come back.

I am confused as to why this happened because this is the 2nd time I am renewing my license since I was approved for DACA. The first time, it was a fairly straight forward process. SAVE (the verification system for immigration status via USCIS) never even came up. Also, I was approved for my DACA renewal (EAD and relief from deportation) in August of this year (2016) for the 2nd time since the initial approval.

I am very confused by this and just looking to see if anyone else went through something similar. Also, if you did, how did it go and did you get your license. I am assuming this is not a big deal, I just want to share my experience and get some feedback.

Thanks!

Is this a new EAD card? How long since you had it?

If you look through the threads other people are having the same issue with their new renewed cards. You have to give it a few days before trying again.

Hi and thanks for letting me know that others are going through this as well. I was approved for my DACA renewal (EAD and relief from deportation) in August of this year (2016) for the 2nd time since the initial approval. Will look through the threads to read more on this too.

Same thing just happened to me in NJ. Were they able to verify you yet through the SAVE system?

I renewed mine several days before the elections and it was fine. I used my CAC card, SSN, EAD, bank statement and current driver's license.

Same thing happened to me guys at the NJ DMV.

Any updates on your end? It has been a week and I am still waiting for their phone call to verify immigration information.

No update on my end. On the SAVE Case check still says 'case under review'. It will be a week for me tomorrow.

It does say this on the website:
Quote:
NOTICE: SAVE’s response time has increased significantly and we will resolve your case as quickly as we can. Please continue to use CaseCheck.
