Need advice/tips on obtaining financial aid for CalState

Will be going to CSULB in January I've paid a couple of hundreds so far out of pocket for a required orientation but my question was if once I register for classes I will be able to use a government loan or any other type of financial aid? I qualified for the BOGFee Waiver in community college but don't know how much or if that will cover anything at a 4 year university.
Any advice, tips, or survival guides are welcomed.. Thanks

You can apply for cal grant. Don't remember about amounts you get or deadlines to apply though.

Thought we don't qualify for FAFSA.. I actually remember applying for it over a year ago and i didn't get it..

Did you get a chance to look this up on the internet or ask counselors?

1. Calgrants via dreamact (https://dream.csac.ca.gov/). This is the alternative to FASFA.

2. Look for private scholarships (E4FC has a list for '16-'17)

3. Ask if CSLUB gives grants. My university gives a uni grant automatically to pay for insurance and a little extra since I'm low-income.

Note that you can only receive state government aid so only calgrants pretty much. No pell grants, etc. since those are all federal. You should look for websites like UCLA's IDEAS which lists more resources. Check if your campus has a similar organization for undocumented students.

Look up California dream act. You might qualify for money there.

Thanks guys I'll do more research online since my counselor is on vacation. Maybe I'll swing by CSULB and see if someone there can tell me something else not mentioned ��
