Just wonky governmental system. Nothing else.
I figured. Let us know when you get your card. Curious when the start date of card is going to be. From your last current expiration date or from renewal date.

Got it today.
Previous is valid from 03/20/2015 to 03/19/2017.
New is valid from 03/19/2017 to 03/18/2019.

It's weird seeing a card that's not yet valid.

The administration is pre-issuing EAD prior to the expiration date in order to prolong DACA protection. This is not common practice at all.

It's getting interesting!

Wow, this is awesome. I think.....

I wonder if you can extend your drivers license with your new one? Are you planning on it?

You already got your card? That's just crazy! I was approved on the 15th and I just got my letter in the mail saying I was approved and now my case has changed to "card is being produced" to "your case is approved"... I'm going backwards! You are so lucky!

Congrats Demise

I got a super early renewal as well.

I sent mine was received on 11/17, Bio was 12/9 (went on scheduled day), and was approved on Monday (12/19).

The funny thing is when I use "check my case" it says my i-821D was approved and that my card is in production. But when I use the USCIS Online account they wanted us to set to check the status of our cases it only said the i-821D was approved and the i-765 was still in process. I guess its going to take a while to fully update. Anyway I am happy and I can't to wait for my card to get here.

Now, if only my i-130 can update. -_-

So if mine expires in 12/2017 and I send my renewal and I get approved, it won't count until 12/2017?

This is on the renewal instructions sheet:

If you file this request more than 150 days prior to expiration of your current period of deferred action USCIS may reject your submission and return it to you with instructions to resubmit your request closer to the expiration date.

So the keyword is "may". And "reject". So if they reject there goes $600 lol

Rejection is not a denial. They will take your whole packet (including the check/money order) and send it back to you.
