He just promised to withhold $1.5 in grants because Austin's new sheriff's policies say that they're only gonna hold people in jail on ICE detainers if they're charged with something serious like aggravated assault, homicide, robbery, drug/human trafficking, etc. I'm like, do we wanna start a gofundme campaign for the city? Haha.

With the population of Austin proper being around 900k, everyone donating $2 would give them more than what's withheld. Let's exaggerate the number of reds in the city and say only half are Democrats, $5 a pop per year would still give them enough money to cover whatever they lost

just looked into it. others said it wasn't actually ICE. i guess a lot of people are just on edge.

Lawyer, Laurel Scott posted on facebook about possible ICE raids in Austin, TX beginning this weekend. Apparently an attorney confirmed it with a local police officer that wishes to remain anonymous.

ICE will focus on those with outstanding deportation orders, but if they find others unlawfully present people in the process, they will detain them as well.

It's possible the raids won't happen, but if you live in that area be on alert. Also it's a good time for you and your family to make sure you understand your rights.

Why not? If there is a raid, it will get you out of that mess quick.

I am bit cautious with carrying an EAD, if trump does end DACA but allow us to expired, I dont think USCIS will be processing any lost EADs claims. I strongly suggest you give you EAD to someone you trust aka mom to hold to it somewhere safe at home and if you ARE stopped by ICE to have someone bring it.
