Why not? Republicans control Congress, Senate, and Presidency. They don't have the supermajority in the Senate but still, they have a lot of power right now.

Eva I will have to disagree with you on this one.

What makes you say so?

The establishment wouldn't even bring this to a vote. The true face of the Republican Party is showing. They were against daca when it suited them and they could get votes with no real threat of dismantling the program. Now all of a sudden they want to preserve it? They've been for immigration all along, they just had to put up a facade for their base of voters.

They voted 218-209 in 2014 house to roll it back. Knowing obama would veto it.

Did anybody even bother to read the text here? or is everyone eager to throw everyone else under the bus to get a green card? Dont you not get that many parents currently waiting for their kids to turn 21 would not be able to get a green card anymore if this bill passes? man, there are many dreamers here that have parents waiting for that.

Why do all of you keep making the mistake of putting all democrats and republicans in the same party line bucket? Half of the republican party would not support this to start with.

To those that referred to Mark K agreeing to give us green cards if this passed, he was actually only asking to get rid of the sibling sponsoring part. This goes further than that.

Maybe thats why we have not being able to get green cards yet, because of all the karma we have from people willing to throw others under the bus lol. This bill has 0 chance to pass.

I was reading more into that vote and I did not know there was federal money used to fund the program.

Under the House legislation, which is unlikely to be considered by the Democrat-led Senate, "we are freezing the program — and as of July 30th, no federal money can be spent on the DACA program or on work authorizations to those who unlawfully enter the country," the Tennessee Republican told former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee on his Fox News program.
Did you know that?

We have to learn to compromise. You really think a nation wide amnesty to all 11 million undocumented people is going to happen?

And what makes you better than everyone else lol?
I dont expect 11 million people to be legalized. However, throwing parents of US citizens under the bus is pathetic. Democrats would never vote for this, it would lower their base.

This will never pass. Those of you speaking on leverage for this are sad and desperate I agree.

To my understanding DACA and most immigration petitions are completely self funding? I don't know where the "federal money" for this comes from. Maybe that was just fancy wording to end the program.
