She basically turned herself in.

In my opinion, not a good time when Sessions has just been nominated.
As you said, the outcome of this and other cases will have a huge impact on the direction DHS takes with regards to these cases.

same thing here, happened during the obama administration.

An immigration rights activist whose own undocumented status was exposed by a drunken-driving arrest has lost her six-month legal battle to remain in the country.

Wendy Uruchi Contreras, a Virginia organizer for the immigrant rights group CASA, was deported to Spain Tuesday after last-ditch appeals were denied by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.

Most have some type of leniency towards people with clean records, but it gets really hard to advocate for someone that has already been convicted of a crime, and makes it harder in general to make a case for us to stay.

But yeah, I think this is not helping us a bit, best case scenario the "good ones" get to stay, this lady's case destroys our narrative since she has been convicted of a crime so she has to go. You know people are looking at this thinking "these mfs think they can break the law while being ilegal and and demand to stay, wtf?"

Anyone still watching it live? It got a little bigger and they're on the side of a large street now.

Update: Police arrest 'about 7' at fiery protest over deported Mesa mother

true. but i believe DACA people will be fine. this person mentioned on the article isnt a daca recipient i believe. DACA peeps are the best and brightest, sure there are some bad apples but i believe in my core this group will be done right by this country.

Yeah, unfortunately it sounds as if this woman was one of the 'bad ones' because of her conviction, even though it was a non-violent offense. Leniency is going to be really hard in these cases in the next 4 years.

I got caught driving without a license 9 years ago, so I am fucked.

I was arrested but never convicted or charged, not even given a fine.
