When my EAD expired and got a renewed one my employer never asked me to show the renewed EAD and I didn't bother showing him unless he asked me for it so as long as I have a valid EAD then I am fine, right?

i also asked her just incase if card does not approve before old one gets expires she smiled and told me that company needs employees like me and if new card does not come on time then they will send me on leave but i won't get pay. but just 2 days ago i see status showing card being produced. they received mine on jan 30th and being produced less than a month.

They keep the original I-9 on file for 3 years. If your document has an expiration then they have to check again on the expiration date. However, in the real world they often don't do checks after the first time. And in my case, my company has e-verify which actually sends a notification to HR to check documents on the expiration date. They didn't check it and it wasn't until I had quit and was rehired that they asked me to show new documents

Yea....if you work for a big company, HR will ask you to provide the new EAD by the expiration date.

If you have one already, depending on there process, they will ask you to update the I-9 and re-verify.

Just to clarify. I wasn't asked to present a new EAD when it expired. I quit a year after and that's when they asked for new documents which I had. I also had an EAD ready for recertification for both times
