Tax evasion?

Stupid question probably, but I'm going to ask anyway.

If someone has DACA and just got an on the books job. Can they get in trouble for all the years that they didn't pay taxes due to not having a SS or making enough money?

I dont' see how. In one hand, yes you're supposed to pay for any income. On the other, how will the IRS know? Unless you have a significant amount of money in your bank account, decided to start a venture and/or invest said money, I don't see how the IRS would notice.

I think there is a question when filing that says "did you file last year?", but I don't believe there's any follow up if you answer no.

They will know. The employer sends W2 income info to IRS every year.

But to OP, you probably overpaid taxes into the system. You're most likely won't get in trouble with the IRS but you lost money that you paid
