Hello guys, I'm new here, I tried doing a search but couldn't really find what I was looking for.

I'm a current daca recipient, my fiance and I are thinking about getting married very soon. I entered the country under a different name when I was 12 years old. When I was filling out documents for DACA i did specify that name.

Now my questions is this, I went and consulted with a couple of immigration attorneys regarding the best way to adjust my status after I marry a citizen. One of them suggested I seek advanced parole (this was prior to Trump) and enter the country legally, another attorney said that it is too risky and suggested that we apply straight for green card. Basically the case would be that when I entered the country illegally I was a minor, and technically not really responsible for my actions.

Did anyone actually get a green card using second method, and if so, is it something that you would highly recommend hiring attorney for or can it be done on my own. Also, what happens if I do it on my own and get rejected?

Thanks in advance

Minor or not, I don't know how your attorney can get around the EWI. I know someone who did that but they were excluded from entering the country but with you, maybe there is some other trick he can pull or go to an open court. I would not try anything like this on my own DACA or no DACA.

I also want to point out that lawyer two is highly respected and have helped many people that I know with impossible situations.

I would say try advance parole...I think it will be the least hassle option...

It is still available, if anything, apply for it, if you get it and DACA is still in place by the time it gets approved, go ahead with it. If something happens between now and then, you will have option 2 regardless.

Also, looking at the complexity of option 2, you are looking at a heavy price tag and nothing is guaranteed. Method one, after successfully re entering should be relatively hassle free.
