I am not advocating for a standard that very few will qualify. I am advocating for one that will show that you are working hard and doing what you are supposed to be doing, instead of goofing off and not working hard. Something like having a 2.5-2.75 GPA in high school, at the very minimum, would be ok. Why do colleges look for a good GPA, because it is a strong indicator that the student is working hard, which is why I am advocating for a minimum GPA policy, to show that you are working hard. I am bringing up an achievable requirement that fits into why we want RACA to pass, to show that we are hardworking and educated American immigrants.

I commented to have a discussion if it should have a minimum GPA requirement, for high school, and what should the GPA requirement be. So far you have not brought in a reasonable point to what I am arguing about. All you have brought up is sarcasm instead of something noteworthy to contribute to the discussion.

I really like it how you attack all dreamers in here by saying that they are not educated enough to come up with requirements. I would attack you, which would be very easy(just look at your comments), but I will not because that does nothing to a discussion. It would be nothing more than a fallacy and not actual evidence.

A lot of words with out context. You're arguing FOR 2.5 requirement while I am saying why should there even be one? Who are you to try to come up with some arbitrary requirement the people writing this bill didn't even come up with ? Why do dreamers here try so hard to have their standards applied to other dreamers?

Yes I suppose you could personally attack me by finding lots of grammatical errors in my posts and quality content of my comments. ( see what I mean by dreamers trying so hard to get other people to match their standards?)

Arbitrary means for no reason. I have continuously said that the reason is that it would allow them to see if the people that are applying are hard workers and not just lazy uneducated people.

Why shouldn't their be one? Any do not just say "because Dreamers should not impose their standards" when that is not even a valid proposition. At least the other person who replied to my post finally gave a proposition by saying that people have different circumstances which would make it hard to achieve a reasonable GPA.

Listen, a 2.5 GPA isn't something hard to obtain. You could get all B's and C's, and you would qualify, or half of your grades could be A's and the other half D's and still qualify.

You realize that I made that statement to show you to not use logical fallacy in an argument. I wanted you to actually bring up good points instead of attacking people, which does not contribute to a discussion.

The arbitration is the 2.5 requirement. Doesn't matter what good reasons you have for it. I am not denying your reasons are good and sound. I am asking you: why should we comply with YOUR arbitrary (something YOU deciding was important) requirement in the first place?

And I have already said why there should be a GPA minimum requirement and why it should be a 2.5.

I have already mentioned the first three, but if you want me to outline them for you instead of looking at the past comments, then here you go.

1. Because it is something that is achievable and it shows that you are at least working.
2. Since colleges use GPA to determine if a student has demonstrated the quality to be accepted, having a GPA can show if the student has been working hard.
3. If some of the lower tier colleges accept people with a GPA of at least a 2.5(really, I would like a 3.0, but I could settle with something around the 2.5-2.75 range), then I think that it would be safe to say that someone with a 2.5 GPA has shown that they can work hard to try to be something/someone.
4. Also, high school athletes have to have a 2.0 GPA to show colleges that they will work hard in college,(not just that they are going to slack off), so I think that we can apply that 2.00 and a good GPA of a 3.0, to get the 2.5, and it will be fine because if someone actually has reasonable circumstances, such as working to help their parent's pay the bills, having to take care of his/her brother's and sister's, it would justify their GPA, and they would be able to qualify for the program (like one of the users on here that I discussed with them before who had a GPA lower than a 3.0 because he took a lot of demanding classes and had some depression issues, but he was able to do well in community college, which he was the reason that he made me decrease the GPA requirement from my original choice of 3.0).

If you want anecdotal evidence. I know several dreamers who simply take easy courses, do the bare minimum to get a low C or a D, and barely make an effort to try to improve their grades/themselves. One of the dreamers skips class all the time, yet he is still eligible for DACA. The other came here when she was 9(already graduated, barely), can barely write a sentence without grammatical errors, works as a cashier, and decided that it was more important to go to clubs(the Mexican dance clubs) and got pregnant from all the fun right before she graduated. I can give you more of these people if you would like. From all the DACA recipients and PR holders(mainly cousins) that I know, only 4(including me) have actually decided to work hard and do well in school. I think that it would be unfair give people, the first two that I talked about, a chance for PR/Citizenship, if they are offered, when there has been other people, more deserving than them, that would/will not be able to get the chance. This is anecdotal evidence, which is why I did not include it with the previous propositions.

These are some of the few points.

Why are these two fools arguing if no one is asking for their opinion on making a dream act bill .

Because this is a website where people can share news and their opinions. Why do you comment on the other posts with your opinions when no one asks for them? Instead of trying to discuss the topic that is being presented, you mainly reply with weird comments that do not add to the discussion.

Dudes, just wait. Let's hope for the best.

Edit: One thing I will say is that some undergrad programs are really intense. GPAs are not always good indicators. Some students struggle not because they are slacking off but because they find out they are not smart enough for certain fields.

Definitely, I do want to get my hopes up too much that will have me crushed in the end if it does not go through. Like I said, I just wanted to add some discussion and see what other people think.

Edit: Just saw your edit. The 2.5 GPA is for a high school diploma, not for college(many dreamers do not have the necessary means to go to college, which is why I did not include it).

I agree some dreamers are lazy, but GPAs are not always good indicators bro. I know a few hard-working dreamers who have been in intense programs and have struggled to get above 3.0.

Edits: Oops sorry. Got it.
