Really?

Some people want things just to themselves...
There are always expectations, which I definitely understand. The GPA argument deals not with being smart, but to show if you have worked hard. In your case, you have. I want people that did not work hard to be excluded, but if you can show that you worked hard, then you should be included.

Like I said, earlier, I introduced this argument to see if we should have a system in place that will show if the person has worked hard. I started out with GPA as a requirement, but wanted more people to engage in the argument(give feedback, like you did) and say "well I think that this method would be better to see if the person has been working hard to be allowed to join RACA", not "this is stupid" as a reason.

I do not know the GED process, but if someone could should that they have been working hard to obtain it, then they should be included.

Enough of this ridiculous GPA argument.

Has there been any update on RACA? Feels like it's still not going anywhere.

1 (1) IN GENERAL.—The Secretary of Homeland
2 Security shall terminate the conditional permanent
3 resident status of any alien if the Secretary deter
4 mines that the alien is 18 years of age or older
5 and—
6 (A) in the case of—
7 (i) an alien postsecondary student, the
8 alien failed to enroll in an accredited insti
9 tution of higher education in the United
10 States within 1 year after the date on
11 which the alien was granted conditional
12 permanent resident status
or to remain so
13 enrolled;

I already graduated College, so this sounds like a problem. It says you need to enroll one year after you get conditional residence status. I mean, I can still meet the reqs by working 48 months, that shouldn't be a problem because the whole point is that we want to work. But I would hate for my College degree to not count towards this. Here is the thing though, in a later section it reads:

13 (d) EXTENSION OF STATUS.—The Secretary of
14 Homeland Security shall extend the conditional permanent
15 resident status of an alien for a second period of 5 years
16 if the following requirements are met:

6 (4) The alien is 18 years of age or older and—
7 (A) in the case of an alien postsecondary
8 student, has been graduated from an accredited
9 institution of higher education in the United
10 States;

So does that mean I can use my College degree to meet the reqs? The first part says "if you don't enroll within one year (which I won't because I already graduated), then your conditional residence will be terminated. But later on it says in order to get the extension of status you need "to have graduated from an institution of higher education" (which I already did). I'm thinking this means that all older DREAMers who already finished college will be covered under two categories, the 48 months of work and the education requirement.

I really hope this bill passes, it is so much better than BRIDGE Act.

Apparently they are going to be more strict on crime. Expect changes for the new bill.

That only applies to people who apply as students. You can apply based on working and if you work for 48 months you can get an extension. At least that's what I understood from reading the bill

Rep Coffman thinks there would be some “fine-tuning” of the bill regarding criminal behavior — the RACA supports deportation of immigrants who commit or have committed felonies but includes provisions for those with misdemeanors or traffic violations

Oh ok well no felonies is to be expected let's see how they deal with those that were approved for DACA with expunged/dismissed DUIs or other misdemeanors
