How many of you guys here are IT professionals? I think we should network and help each other out Thanks to DACA I am finally somewhere in my career where most, even US citizens dream of being in. I have made plenty of mistakes and delays but I am about to get my B.S in computer science soon while working.

If any of you guys are in a position just like I was and have no idea where to go or what direction to take give the IT world a shot. I would be happy to help.

Also I would be willing to meet up with fellow dreamers in the Dallas, TX area to work on hands on Networking Labs.

That is exactly what I am doing. I've had DACA now going for 4 years, intially I was so excited to just be able to drive legally and work so I mostly saved as much as I could to support my family.

Now 3 years later working in fast food has definitely mentally wore me down because this is not something i want to do for the rest of my life. I would have thought i'd have a different job by now but it is tough to find something that pays what i make now 13/hr without first being started at 9-10 and moving up.

So I am looking to stay where i am at while I go to College. I just recently signed up for IT and took my placement test this morning. Sadly going to college is going to cost me out of state tuition here in NC even though i've lived here 19 years.
It sucks but oh well, i can't delay anymore.

I'm actually about to start in IT classes mostly because i had no clue what I wanted to study but now I think this is the right decision.

Awww, too bad, I live in Atlanta GA, would have loved to meet up and go through a few lab - especially load balancing, OSPF and BGP.

If anyone in GA is interested in getting into IT, hit me up.

But no matter what you do, whether development, network, or systems -- learn Linux. Its just a good skill set to have.
