Cost of teleconference with Canadian Lawyer - $350CDN

Result - Don't qualify for express entry, unless I resort to getting married to a Canadian Citizen.
Bachelor in Finance here and the lawyer suggested I have better chances if my work involves mortgage related field. Or if I have a master's degree.

Resolution - Fight is not over...not giving up. Looked at the Canadian site and they encourage everyone to apply, the cost of submission is free. Looked at the job category and I have more then enough to fulfill the requirement. Plus Sister is a Canadian Citizen and parents have permanent residency. Not giving up..........

What was the reason for not qualifying for express entry?

I need at least a Master's degree and my current job description does not favor a strong case or possibility to be selected. My father recently moved to Canada on a permanent residency basis and he was telling he met an individual that moved from India and works at a bank as a personal banker. Idk...i just felt i got poor info.

In a somewhat related note, I thought Canada was friendly when it comes to visitors....

When I had my AP, I spent $80 to apply for a visitor entry for 2 weeks for vacation, filled out all the requirements as I met them and was rejected.

Really? My boyfriends cousin has a record here in the US and was admitted into Canada as a visitor. He is there on vacation right now.

Yup i submitted my application for express entry and got about 380 points. Im hoping for the cut off score to go down but if not I need to finish my masters to bump it up.

Alternative is to go the start up visa route and come up with a start up business that works

I got accepted for express entry with 503 points. My job was kind enough to go the whole way and get a labor impact assessment. I'm waiting to see what happens here to see if I make the move.

I believe the cutoff is usually 450 points.

What is your score if you dont mind me asking. The points are low these days and alot of applicants are being eligible even with just a BS degree. Their occupation list is so broad it covers most of the jobs. What field is your work experience in? Dont be disappointed- dont know why the lawyer discouraged you to apply. IELTS score also makes a big difference in your points if thats the case you may need to retake it

Barely took the test this saturday. I have a bachelor in finance with 3-4 years of ecperience as a "operations account services rep". Spoke with another lawyer and i have better chances at this with a job offer. I have another meeting with a local lawyer in Dallas.....need to clarify some doubts and then proceed from there.
