Has anyone here dabbled with private/personal/student loans? I read that Discover is semi-friendly when it comes to providing a private loan to DACA individuals. I am looking to go back to school to finish my bachelors and I do have a good credit score. The only issue is that it seems that Discover categorizes us as International students on the application over the phone, which I believe is incorrect? I considered applying on their website by just submitting my SSN and then I'd have to choose whether I am a US Citizen, Resident or international student.

Thanks!

I was extremely short on tuition money last year and had to get a 4k Discover Student Loan. Even though we aren't "international students" by most standards, to them we are. I NEEDED to have a US cosigner in order to get my loan. I also had to submit a valid unexpired passport.
The process was very easy, I filled out my info and my cosigner filled out his info online. I had the loan within a week.

To them yes we are international students. I was able to get a Sallie Mae loan back in 2013 but I tried again andd they denied me.

I believe Wells Fargo provides loan.

So I'm updating this in case anyone finds this post useful. I applied for about 5 *personal loans and was denied. (Technically, we are not supposed to use personal loans to pay for school but once the money is deposited into your account, they won't know what you utilized it for.) My credit score is actually very good... I was denied for having a lack of loan history. Luckily, my sixth try worked. I was able to obtain a personal loan with Prosper.com with a decent APR. They are very flexible and the application ran smoothly online.

Hope this helps!

where else did you apply? i'm thinking about wells fargo, as this is for graduate school.

i do know you need a cosigner (us citizen or green card holder, right?)

Wells fargo didn't approve me despite my usc cosigner, but discover did. Good luck!
