If you have a pretty simple, straightforward case and you're confident in your ability to gather a strong packet, I wouldn't hire a lawyer. My husband and I regret doing that, because we definitely could have filled everything out ourselves and gotten help from the good people of DAP.

Honestly, it's been me updating my lawyer throughout this process, and not the other way around.

Hello guys,

Just giving you guys an update.

We just received an interview schedule e-mail this morning on july 28th. Still waiting for the notice letter for more details. NYC Field office wait time is 10-12 months or even more just for the interview.

Dreamers,

How long did it take to receive your biometrics date from when you sent the AOS package?

I have a question. So, I was looking at interview examples questions and I saw one particular one that I have an answer to but I don't know if it's okay to say it to the IO. The questions is why did you get married with a (long or short engagement)? So, I was thinking well besides that we are deeply are in love with each other, he wanted to fix my papers right away. He wants to secure my stay in the US and be with him for the rest of our life.
Do you guys think it's okay to tell the IO that he wants to fix my papers asap? Hope they won't assume it's fake or something. I mean that's basically why we are getting married through a civil wedding rather than a regular wedding.

Holy shit! Didn't even realize that this post would reach more than 100 pages.

Anyway, I'm happy for all my fellow dreamers as they get their legal statuses

I've been told that is fraud. That is the reason why they have interviews so they can catch people who are marrying for papers. I wouldn't say that.

Let's see what other members have to say.

That sounds about right. Heavily populated areas by immigrants usually have longer wait times. Areas far from population centers can be done from start to finish in 4 months.

...Such an answer from him or yourself would very likely result in denial by fraud. In addition, DACA would no longer be applicable if that is how it was denied. If you both are apart, that raises another red flag.

Imo, you should not focus on the adjudication interview so early. The focus should be on:

1. Making sure your medicals are in the clear and have the appropriate vaccinations first!!!
2. Take the time to ensure you are proving co-habitation through evidence. This is more critical and crucial in the early parts of the process after marriage.

I got my bio notification about 2 weeks after sending the packet. The biometrics themselves were about a month after sending the app.
