Not necessairly. There are groups that support immigration rights at a greater rate than Latinos (nearly 30% of them voted for Trump, Many Tejanos & Cubans aren't too fond of "amnesty") like the African Americans (who have a hiatory of being consistently Democratic) and the Jews.

I don't think so. Many people in other countries like Great Britian have shown a great disdain to Polish immigrants even though they're "more Whiter" simply because they're nationalists. Hell, Americans here don't even consider Spaniards & Portuguese people as "white" even though they're European. I personally believe that it all comes down to nationalism although I'm not denying that White supremacy exists but I don't think it's prevalent in this day of age to be honest.

Believe it or not, the US is actually extremely lenient to different ethnicities/races as of now along with Canada, etc despite their dark pasts. In fact, the US could have scrapped public services for all people in here illegally and deny due process for them but we have DACA and we have support for the DREAM Act nowadays. You want to see real racism? You should take a look at countries like India or even some Latin American countries like Mexico and Argentina

I'm talking mostly about Latino lawmakers. We need better representation in congress. Of course nationalism is at play but that also includes a racial identity. People constantly refer to white people as Americans and not so much for any other group. You don't think white supremacy is in effect? You think obama would of got away with half the shit trump does? That's white supremacy and white privilege.

Just because racism is worse in other countries does not discredit what we go through. Your justifying it through the lense of we shouldn't even be here but white people still don't treat us THAT bad.

America is welcoming to a lot of people and it has to do with "Americanism". I was reading a paper on it a few months ago. Whether someone is considered "American" has a lot to do with the culture and speech of the person more than skin color to a certain degree ( Africans, Caribbeans and Afro Latinos still face problems ).

Perception is everything and understanding that is why Dreamers get so much support. A person who speaks English without an accent and raised in the culture is seen as "American" and gets a lot of sympathy. Someone who is in the country for 20 years, doesn't speak English, does not fit culturally gets a lot less sympathy.

Summary of the article: The President is supporting a bill that would eliminate several family-based immigration categories, leaving spouses and unmarried, minor children of USCs and LPRs the only family-based categories. The bill also seeks to eliminate the diversity visa lottery and limit the total number of refugees and asylees to 50,000 a year [it is currently at 110,000 a year]. The employment-based categories would also be overhauled to limit unskilled workers. So they would eliminate petitioning for parents, adult children or siblings mhhh...

The real question is what will happen to the people that have been waiting decades for a family petition to be approved? Will they be grandfathered in?

That is so true. An example of this is when Chicanos/Mexican immigrants return to the motherland and the natives them start calling them pocho or even gringo because they know that they're necessarily "American".

Many people show sympathy towards DREAMers being deported because deep down it's like sending an "American" to a foreign country they don't know about.

The United States used to be a racially homogenous country maybe back in the 18th and 19th century but ever since that Immigration Act of 1965 passed it wasn't anymore. The identity of American relies on civic nationalism more than racial identity that's why many people show sympathy towards the DREAMers because that's like sending back an American to a foreign country.

Yes, there are ignorant White people that despise all immigrants but if you think it's wrongWhite people, you're wrong. 52% of border patrol is entirely Hispanic mainly Chicano lol. As for White privilege, I think it's more of a class privilege to be honest.

That's just cruel man. Imagine if you were in their shoes and you couldn't petition your parents. Have a little empathy, bro because we are in no position to talk them down.
