Hi guys! I joined the forum to help out a Filipino cousin who is married to an American citizen for 20 years but didn't pursue American citizenship or even a green card. She's been living illegally in the US for almost two decades.

She's been here for 20 years. I am still baffled why she didn't fix her papers, when she had an American husband, in the first place. I guess she had reasons, but now with Trump as president, she'll have a hard time.

Not really. All she needs to do is an I-601A waiver and get a good lawyer to prove that her absence will cause hardhship to their husband then she can do the legalization process but that's only IF SHE CAME HERE WITHOUT AN INSPECTION aka crossing the border.

If she came here with a tourist visa and overstayed, then she can adjust here. Just consult an immigration lawyer. The marriage part of immigration will never change.
