Please don't even try man.

You know how bad it will look regardless of your intentions.

Not looking for any trouble at all. I just got into the hobby after going to a few ranges a couple of times. got my handgun safety permit. I went to the store to buy the part to build my own rifle, no problem at all buying it, but i was told that i will need a background check that usually take 10 days. after 10 days i go ahead and pick up my part. A bit skeptical on how would this work.

States have no jurisdiction over gun ownership for DACA holders.

https://www.atf.gov/firearms/qa/are-...dor-ammunition

"(5) Is an alien illegally or UNLAWFULLY in the United States or an alien admitted to the United States under a nonimmigrant visa"

The background check will end with a denial.

LPR's can get them as well. My father in law was asked for his GC the last time we went to go get one since he is still a LPR.

Idk about California gun laws but under the NFA you need to be a:
  • Citizen
  • Permanent Resident
  • Lawful Nonimmigrant with a hunting permit

So unfortunately no way to get a gun under DACA without violating the NFA. That includes both purchases and creating guns from scratch (e.g. machining or 3D printing an AR-15 lower receiver).

3D printing a lower receiver will be one of those things I do when I'll finally have my green card.
