I can see why the left does not want to use us as a bargaining chip. But, at what cost? Are all of you willing to deal with more prolonged uncertainty, face the risk of DACA being eliminated, returning to the shadows, and dealing with all that hellish drama? Are we willing to do that?

I love my parents too, and I consider what will happen to them if this agreement is reached, especially since we live in So Cal. But, I will say that I'd rather be in a stronger position of power (e.g. residency) than to have DACA. The former puts me a better position to fight for others.

A lot of people on the left refuse to compromise, but as Fresh mentioned, making that claim is easy because they have legal status. They do not have to worry about finding work or getting deported. For the dreamers who do agree with people like Pelosi, I wonder why? Do you have it so easy that you don't even worry about deportation or your loved ones getting a job? Why??? Honestly, I am tired of waiting and dealing with all this crap.

I can see that. I guess I'm thinking that when they say "no bargaining chip" they're saying "no compromise". They need to be clear.

There are several stand alone bills already introduced, but there's two big ifs:
1) Will Ryan & McConnell allow them to be voted on
2) Are there enough votes for stand alone versions of the bill?

Yeah a stand alone dream act has basically the same chance as a stand alone raise act. If anything passes it'll have to be a compromise

Yes to number one.

No to number two. It will have to be a compromise.

The compromise will happen through the amendment process. The DREAM Act passed the House years ago. It can again. The problem will be the Senate.

but will Trump sign it into law without getting anything in return?

i doubt we have 66% support for the DREAM ACT to overcome a veto.

Dems don't control the house. A stand alone Dream Act bill wouldn't even be brought to a vote in the house. Republicans aren't giving up the DA for nothing in return
