And again, if we're going to tout the RAISE act as the way to go, then let's stick to the principle. Why should it be changed just for DREAMers?

Allow those that have DACA to remain in this country by falling in line of the RAISE Act but while staying in this country.

Because they are two separate issues.

RAISE ACT looks to reform who is allowed to come into the country legally in the future, making it very stringent.

DACA, or the proposed DREAM ACT looks to deal with a population that is already in the country.

I think that you think that you're being clever, but you're incorrectly conflating two issues.

Yes, both fall under the umbrella of 'immigration', but each part tries to deal with different perceived issues.

Then if they're two separate issues. Deal with them separately. Don't tack one different immigration issue to the other.

It is not uncommon to tack on different things to bills, even if they are seemingly totally unrelated. There have been things tacked on to bills that wouldn't even be considered within the same umbrella.

It's part of the compromise process in Washington (not that there is much compromising going on). Given that reality, I don't think its crazy to suggest that more stringent immigration requirements could be taken in exchange for a path to citizenship at least for some already in the country.

I get it, its not perfect. Not all immigrants are the same and you can categorize them in a million different ways to different ends. Id rather have an imperfect compromise and push through some good rather than be purist and get nowhere.

Well just having watched the Trump rally on TV, I definitely feel even more hopeless now. This man is just crazy honestly.

He goes against what his advisers tell him to do. He hinted at a pardon for Arpaio after it was said that he would not mention him and that there wouldn't be a pardon. It was funny to watch. His ego is so fragile. All he did was rant against the media and list his so called accomplishments lol. He kept mentioning economic figures but when Obama was President, he would call those very same economic figures fake. It's still Obama's fiscal year. He's taking credit for it.

I agree with you both. What REALLY worried me was when he literally said he would shut down the government in order to get funding for his wall, which made me think, and be almost sure, he would take DACA as hostage in order to threaten Democrats and frankly the government to fund his wall.
