Does preventing future applications mean that those that already have their application processed can still have a chance of being accepted like the renewals?

Since they haven't made any decision on it yet...do you guys think my little brother should apply now? He just turned the age for it.

It's implicit. The article suggests that the two options are 1) a sunset, and 2) a sunset + grandfathering where current recipients would be eligible for renewals. The article notes that the two options are for sunsetting DACA. This is different from what was reported last week as the two options being 1) outright cancellation and 2) a sunset.

Again, take these articles with a grain of salt, but I tend to find CNN credible.

At this point it will be such a huge risk. It may take weeks just to get his bio done, that's if he doesn't get RFE.

What I got from the article was that we will have the deportation protection but no renewals . Basically no work permits.

That's how we got our work permits because we have 'deferred action', ie: protection from deportation.

My reading of this is that the two options both assume protections but differ in scope. So, it could be 1) all phase out or 2) only renewals allowed.

Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if this is handled quietly through a DHS memo.

To me grandfathered means you get to keep your permit and renew.

Ex: Just a month ago my old gym closed down its location and opened a brand new one just across street. Prices were a lot higher for those newcomers but I got grandfathered in and kept the same low monthly price while enjoying all the new perks the new gym had to offer. That's what grandfathered in means to me. Killing DACA and letting our permits expired will be called phasing out the program.

That's exactly what it means. I think some of these people are new to this figure of speech lol.
