Grow some balls and play the cards life has dealt you.

Unlike many of us, you did not even incur the 10-year band for being in the country illegally after 18 years old. Count your blessings, son!

For those who have not accrued unlawful presence, if DACA is recinded, will you leave? Is this recommended?

I just haven't decided if it's worth my pride to do it for my citizenship. I wanted to be able to say that I went through everything and is dreamers did it ourselves.

Take it from somebody that has been in your shoes. My ex-husband and I were in love or so I thought. He was very sweet, fun, caring and he promised he would always be there for me.

After marrying him in March 2012 we file for AOS and the process was very lengthy and tired some. By October 2013 I was granted conditional PR. Everything seemed great and I thought the roughest part of my life was behind me but I was wrong.

After trying to have kids multiple times and having a miscarriage. He changed a lot. Physically abusing me by verbally abusing me as well. The worst thing he said to me was “you’re here because of me or else you’d be back in Mexico, I own you” and he would also say “if you leave or threatened me, what are you gonna do? I have your papers” it literally made me feel like absolute nothing and felt powerless.

I finally gathered the strength to leave him and he took all of my case papers and my green card and burned it. I knew it was just conditional anyways. So went back to my parents and filed for DACA, that’s when I first felt like I was in control of my own destiny and nobody “owned” me.

Hopefully your story turns out for the better, just sharing my own experience. Good luck and god bless you too!

Did you divorce him?
If I'm not mistaken, emotional abuse may have made you eligible for a U-Visa. It is the most difficult to prove but there are ways. Go to therapy and submitt as proof.
Did he cancel the petition? Was your case considered abandoned?

Just curious. I am married to a USC and currently in divorce proceedings.

I was granted conditional PR and only had it for a few months and then I was unable to take it anymore and divorced right away. I honestly was just young and emotionally scared.

My lawyer said that it’s very, very difficult to prove verbal abuse. She said my best option was to get DACA and hopefully re-marry again later, but I don’t want to rush into another marriage again until I’m certain.

I don’t know if I answered your question correctly or at all, but I guess after I left him, he moved out of state and I never heard from him again. I wasn’t contacted or anything about my case afterwards. Hopefully my answer helps, it was almost 5 years ago.
