Obviously you would have to return to your home country first and establish proof of residency which isn't easy and takes time.

Work based is the only way to immigrate there directly.

Smh I'm not illegal. I'm a US Citizen. As I said, my husband is the DACA recipient. There's also the option of asylum, which you don't have to apply in your home country. I've found some Canadian immigration lawyers in the US. Depending on how this all plays out, we plan on consulting with them also.

I have to give credit to you for wanting to move to another country with your husband just so he is legal some way or another. You are a keeper.

How long you two been together?

Thank you. We've been together for 7 years, but married for 3 years. I've also known him since high school. It just would be nice to have a life together somewhere we don't have to worry.

Two questions:

1. Why hasn't he adjusted his status through your marriage together?
2. If he's EWI, why didn't he clear it with Advance Parole?

1) Because he came in illegally. His only option was the pardon letter which would take a few years. In the case of my husband's friend, it took about 5 years to get approved to leave the country and be accepted to return...and he still hasn't gone back to his home country yet.
2) He applied for AP right before Trump became president due to his sick father, but got rejected. They've become very strict on what terms they will accept for AP.

From being disappointed from the elections and hesistant, I eventually applied for the Canadian Express Entry program through Federal Skill worker programs. I began research in january, took ielts in February and did the medical and FBI check. Submitted my application in July. Now, My process is in the final steps and canada has asked me for my passport to issue PR visa.

Its a points based system and if you can get enough points (by scoring high on IELTS, Your degrees, and work experience), its a great option. My Engineering degree was under Category A federal professionals. I know many people trying this option from all the uncertainty in the US.

If you're skilled and qualified, do your research and take a chance. It wouldn't hurt.

Congratulations to you! That sounds great. Which part of Canada will you go to? We might just give it a try...I've been thinking about it before, but never thought things would end up this way.
