I am also a fellow DACA recipient, EXP: Sept 2018.. I was one of the first to apply a few years ago when it was first put in place.

Sad day for so many people out there. Many hardworking, talented, and good individuals.. now facing tremendous uncertainty thanks to the Trump admin. I don't want to add fuel to this fire but my question to you all is...

Do you ACTUALLY think Congress is going to get it's stuff together?
What incentive do they have to put their names on the line for a marginalized group that has NO voting power, ideologically stands against their conservative values, and is frowned upon by their core WASP-y base?

Yes, there is some support amongst house GOP etc... but let's not forget that these are the same people who have wasted their time/effort on trying to repeal Obamacare 60+ times, squabbled their way toward oblivion, and have also shutdown the government MULTIPLE times.

Realistically, what are our chances

I am literally at my computer at work thinking about the same thing. I want to say yes but so far (I've been here since 1996), the US has always let us down... I am betting on no.

If congress is to do anything they have to act quick while this topic is still relevant and a hot issue. Ideally is if they did something before the end of the year so that it goes into effect in 2018 although that is asking too much I believe.

Congress has let us down so many times. My gut feeling is no.

That's what I had said. That Congress will not do anything, but my posts kept getting deleated.

I wouldn't be surprised if in 6 months, we wake up to the following:

Quote:

Senate Democrats came up five votes short of the 60 needed to advance the House-passed bill, which would provide a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants brought to the country as children if they attend college or join the military for two years.

Btw, this quote was from 2010. History tends to repeat itself.

Most plausible ending.

I don't think so. I understand we need to stay positive but we also have to be realistic . I have until Aug2018 to decide what to do if they don't anything. Right now I think we all need to save money as much as possible.
