This is a letter that I wrote a while back to give you ideas of what to say when leaving messages.

We urge you to support the Dream ACT amendment in the upcoming Department Of Defense Authorization Act. As we remember the death of all the heroes that died in the September 11th attack, the recent Bin Laden video tapes constantly remind us of the terrorism that still faces our nation. With the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, our military is currently under a lot of strain and is being stretched with not enough recruits to maintain the numbers. New rules mandating time spent at home will only tighten the squeeze on our military. Some senators and Pentagon officials have been talking of reinstating the draft to ensure that our military would maintain its manpower. To make matters even worse, recent world events point to the possibility of conflicts that we need to deter: Iran aspiring to become a nuclear nation; Hezbollah in southern Lebanon vowing to target US interests; turmoil in Pakistan; Moroccan bombings; North Korean threats, recent Al-Qaida videotapes; Islamic extremists undermining the governments in Indonesia and Ethiopia; even the regression of the Russia to a pre-cold war era threatening our allies in Europe. We need to ensure that our military will have a supply of young and men that are willing to protect us.

The Dream Act will provide an excellent pool of 750 thousand young, intelligent recruits to join our armed forces. A recent survey at the Dream Act portal showed that 75% of all respondents would consider joining the military if given the option. These are young patriotic men and women that love the only country they call home and are willing to give the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom.

We urge you to support the Dream Act amendment. As former president Roosevelt said, “speak softly and carry a big stick”, let us make sure our military will have the soldiers to continue being the strong deterrent it always have been and ensure that the United States is a force not to be reckoned with.
