Not yet, but as of right now, they plan on introducing a 2-tier system next summer. One requiring proof of legal status, the other one having the usual not for federal purposes marking. I can only imagine the rush they're going to get before the new system goes into effect, so they're probably going to scrutinize out-of-state transfers...

With the real id act, i believe all of them will have to do something like that pretty soon either way.

i believe that here, you have two options: 1.) get a regular DL or 2.) get an "enhanced" DL. the enhanced DL is compliant with Real ID, but it is only available to USCs. the regular DL is not compliant, so i think that starting Jan 2018, one would need another type of documentation to board a plane.

WA is really scrambling with this. they were recently granted an extension until October, but may request another one.

Since the governor did sign a bill this year to switch over to a 2-tier system (real ID + not for federal purposes), they'll probably get an extension in October till the new system is good to go next year. Once that happens, and they become compliant, the current licenses issued to everyone will be good for air travel till 2020.

If you have the means I would recommend you guys actually move to one of these states before your papers expire. If you're going to be jobless and starting over, might as well do it in a more immigrant friendly state.
