I have an aunt that has it. I know a bit about it. It is for victims of crimes or domestic violence. If you were victim of a crime like armed robbery or have some bodily harm and such and got police report and all that, you may have grounds for a u-visa.

You should go ahead and ask any questions you may have regarding U-Visas. Many DAP users are knowledgeable about the process. I know Ianus and Demise both know plenty of information regarding the matter.

I also was a beneficiary of a U-Visa and was able to use it to AOS after having the actual U-Visa status for 3 continuous years. Besides my personal story, I worked at a immigration law office as an assistant for over a year. My role was solely around U-Visas & VAWA.

Thank you guys!

Long story short, I missed a day of work to go to my local USCIS office to dispute a Notice of Intent to Deny (There was an issue with my Emergency Advanced Parole). I wasvisibly upset due to the Notice and when I walked in I asked a guard for help (what floor to go to etc.). He was initially nice but quickly turned creepy. He said he'd personally take me upstairs and see about getting a USCIS officer to help me. I never for a second assumed he had bad intentions. On our walk he sexually harassed me. He suggested that I wouldn't have to worry about being illegal anymore if I were to "hook up with an American guy, have his kid and never have to be worried about being deported again". Then he started saying how much he would like to put his hands on me. =(. The way he said these things were way much more explicit but I'm trying to explain it as best as I can online. He then put his arms around me and started touching my cheek.

All of this happened in a matter of about 2 minutes but I was literally in a brain fog the whole time. I couldn't believe what was happening and I was scared/ashamed of making a scene in the same place I would be disputing my Notice of Intent to Deny. Once we arrived to the correct floor he left me with another female USCIS officer and in front of her, he handed me a piece of paper (this turned out to be his name and number) and then said "Take care of her or else I'll have to" and he flicked my chin and walked away. UGH.

Basically I started crying as I explained the Notice situation to her and she assumed I was crying because I was anxious. I was actually crying because of what had happened with the cop. After this, I literally sprinted away and left through another elevator so I could avoid running into the cop.

A week after this I decided to file a complaint against the Officer with Department of Homeland Security. A week later I got a call from a senior USCIS detective who asked me to come in for a meeting. We met and I told him the whole story in detail. I was called back again to do another interview repeating the story again. In the end, the Officer was placed on temp. leave.

I now am considering filing a U-VISA. I did cooperate with USCIS detectives to stop this guy. I'm just not sure if I have a chance or if applying will eliminate the remainder of my DACA? Any help is much appreciated.
