Say a compromise isn't reached then we have Bridge Act. Say the Bridge Act doesn't pass then you go back to the shadows for two years. Say we can't work, then start your own business. Say you can't start your own business work in the shadow to survive for two years.

We aren't self deporting...what I listed above is worst case scenario. The world not going to end. Politics is a negotiation game. You can't give up the house on someone's bluff. Sit back and stop fear mongering.

Not attacking you, personally. I'm curious about arguments from DREAMERs. Two camps are arising: those willing to compromise, and those who'll refuse any compromise and demand a clean DREAM Act.

The sad thing is that we are not in a position to make demands, so a compromise will have to be reached.
I'm sure diabo has a similar story so I'll tell you my point of view on this:

I don't know your relationship with your parents but I would give up my life for mine. Unlike you, I don't believe my parents dragged me along to suffer. My parents are great people, honest, and hardworking. An example in 2001, when their bank made an error gave an extra 1,000, they went back and returned the money because it was the right thing to do. For almost 30 years, my parents worked 364 days a year, 12-14 hours days so I could have a better life. They chose to come here and chose to stay to so I could have a bright future. If it was up to them they would accept any deal to help me but I would not accept a deal that compromises their safety and their future for mine. They can have my 6 figure job and my freedom because I wouldn't sell out the hand that fed me all these years.

Some of you are just are so desperate to save yourselves, you're willing to sell out anyone and everyone. It's kind of sad.

I totally get where you're coming from and I understand, but on the other hand, if I'm allowed to stay and work here out in the open, I'll be more than capable of taking care of my parents. I'll have the money for them to retire and never have to work another day again. I won't be able to do that if I'm forced to return to the shadows.

this is also a way to look at it but regardless they could have a higher chance of being deported and me never see them. but i see where you're coming from too

exactly how i feel. my parents and i came to the US in 2002 on a 2 year visa which expired and the lawyer my parents hired took the fees vanished on us and we ended up choosing to overstay. but never will i put the blame on my parents because yes they've made mistakes but non selfish mistakes and they work so hard. fuck the dream act if it supports ANY type of strengthening on deportation forces.

Sure you would be able to give them money but that's just a small factor. When they grow old they need someone there to take care of them. You could hire a caretaker but you really don't know how they will treat your parents. I personally want to take care of them when they get old. Also I want them around for my life event such as my wedding, when I have kids, family vacations, and etc...
