(Edited) The worst enemy of the Dream Act are the CIYJA illegals (though some of them are citizens).

Those people were not the dreamers. Infact, they messaged back saying they are not Dreamers. Get your facts right please.

Careful there. They don't like to call themselves Dreamers because they say doing so makes their parents look bad by assigning fault to their parents. And many of them in the protest are actually legal already.

In light of recent events that took place on September 18, 2017, it is time for our voice to be heard. A group of activists interrupted Congresswoman Pelosi’s Press Conference regarding DACA, prompting her to leave. These are tactics that a lot of Dreamers do not agree with. These are groups do not speak for ALL Dreamers.

Congresswoman Pelosi is one of the many US Senators and Congressmen/Congresswoman that are fighting for a permanent solution to the Dreamer dilemma, the DREAM Act.

Several activist groups have taken a position of “11 million or nothing” or “Clean DREAM Act or nothing” which quite frankly is shortsighted and naïve. We understand the anger, uncertainty and fear that the cancellation of DACA has sparked within us but we must channel that energy to get support, not interrupt or scream at our allies.

In a perfect world, Congress would come together and craft a comprehensive immigration reform that would overhaul the immigration system and potentially fix status for undocumented population that has done nothing but contribute to America.

Unfortunately, in the current political climate, this is not the case. Comprehensive immigration reform proposals have come and gone in the last decade or so. The original DREAM Act was first introduced in 2001. That’s sixteen years. It has a yet to pass. Put that into perspective.

DACA, the executive order issued by President Obama changed our lives, 800K+ to be exact. It allowed us to live our lives in moderate peace. Gave us an opportunity to get good jobs, education and careers. If you’re a Dreamer, I don’t have to explain to how this program has changed our lives. President Obama always intended DACA to be a temporary solution, buying us time so we can focus on our lives while a legislative solution got passed. The end of DACA is here and so is the time for a realistic permanent solution.

President Trump’s ending of DACA has ignited support unlike anything our community has seen. This is the time for DREAM Act to become the law of the land. But this must be done in a pragmatic solution. Politicians such as Senator Schumer and Congresswoman Pelosi have stepped up to the plate to give us the DREAM Act. We must understand that for the DREAM Act to pass, there is high chance that it will have some sort of “border security” package for it to have President Trump’s signature. And it is his signature that will make such a bill into law.

Let’s be clear. At the moment, we don’t know the details of what the “border security” includes. If recent reports have validity, it does not include “The Wall”. Border security does not mean that 11 million people are going to be deported. Do not let the fear mongering agendas win. It doesn’t mean that we are selling out. It does not mean that we are betraying our parents. We are not.

Quite the opposite really. We much rather be in a position to be able to help them, to make sure that all of their sacrifices were worth it. To ensure that all 14+ hour shifts they worked for low wages just to help us through college were worth it. To allow them to see us become something more than just living in fear or uncertainty.

We do believe that there will be a time when a Comprehensive Immigration Reform will be achieved. However, there are less than 6 months left before 800K + lives begin to be pushed back into the shadows.

The time for DREAM Act is now. It is not the time for ultimatums.

To those who agree with the above, please sign this and let your voice be heard.

To our Senators, Representatives, and the media,

This is a response to the events that took place on September 18, 2017 in San Francisco, CA. where a group of activists interrupted Congresswoman Pelosi’s Press Conference regarding DACA. These are tactics that MOST Dreamers strongly condemn.

Congresswoman Pelosi is one of the many US Senators and Congressmen that are fighting for a permanent solution to the Dreamer dilemma, the DREAM Act.

Several activist groups have taken a position of “11 million or nothing” or “Clean DREAM Act or nothing” which quite frankly is shortsighted and naïve. We understand the anger, uncertainty and fear that the cancellation of DACA has sparked within us, but we must channel that energy to get support, not interrupt or yell nonsense at our allies.

In a perfect world, Congress would come together and pass comprehensive immigration reform that would overhaul the many flaws in our immigration system and fix the status of our undocumented population.

Unfortunately, the current political climate is not ideal to tackle everything at once. Comprehensive immigration reform proposals have failed in the past because both parties don’t trust each other. Many in the Republicans Party will not allow any legalization. They believe our unsecured border does not guarantee that people will not be able to come here unlawfully, while many in the Democratic Party will not sign off on anything that creates a deportation force.

Standalone options to help Dreamers have not faired any better. The failure to pass the original DREAM Act 16 years ago and most recent bills can be attributed to the same stalemate. President Obama saw the situation as an opportunity to institute DACA, give the Dreamers hope and force politicians to do something in the future. That future is now.

DACA currently covers 800,000 young Dreamers. The program has provided us with the opportunity to obtain jobs, attend school and to pursue careers that have a positive impact in American society. DACA does not offer welfare, freebies or a path to citizenship.

At the moment, we don’t know the details in the border security package about to be introduced in congress. However, we strongly support legislation that offers the Dream Act and fully secures the border in a smart way. Not with a useless 2000 mile concrete wall, but with a mix of technology and manpower. We understand the amount of suffering that cartel border crime creates in both the United States and Mexico.

To be clear, we support Border Security and not Interior Enforcement. We do not support a deportation force that will rip apart our families and will create suffering in the immigrant community.

DACA recipients and immigrant youth are witnesses of the hard work and sacrifices that our parents have made. However, we are not sellouts by endorsing border security, nor are we advocating for anyone in the immigrant community to be deported. We believe that we will be in a much better position to help our parents if we obtain legal status and eventual citizenship.

We strongly encourage other dreamer groups to be respectful of our allies and our enemies. We are now standing in front of the greatest opportunity to kick start immigration reform in three decades. A Dream Act and Border Security deal is without a doubt a small but smart step to break the immigration reform stalemate.

Dreamers are extremely thankful for the opportunities that this beautiful country has given us. We look forward to keep contributing to this amazing society.

God bless the United States of America,

- The Dreamers

It took +16 years of bills being introduced, DACA being implement, Trump tweets, etc. to get us to the point where we were. All of it ruined by a single protest by these idiots. Building something good takes a long time, but destroying takes a mere seconds.

I think we are just getting a small taste of how Muslims must feel. The action of a few extremists are defining the rest of us.
