Hasn't this always been their starting point? Not sure why people think it's changed because of the protesters

DREAM ACT is a step forward for CIR.

i guess its better that to go "lets go all or nothing, if nothing comes like the DREAM ACT. all of our families should be deported."
My parents never lived in the United States. And i'm sorry to hear that your parents got deported. I truly am.

The point here is that there won't be a compromise.

Immigration advocates don't want to compromise, and neither do Republicans nor Democrats.

Everyone wants to have their cake and eat it too.

That's just the sad reality we are living at the moment. Even if Congress acts on DACA, which i highly doubt they will, if they don't give DACA recipients a path to citizenship, they will do nothing more than create another class of immigrants in this country. Which is absolutely unAmerican in every possible way.

They can't even pass anything on Healthcare or Tax Reform. What makes anyone think that they are going to focus on a group of 800K or so immigrants right now?

It's all just politics. It sucks, but it's the truth.

i highly doubt republican will approve anything without a wall. it doesn't matter what Trump wants if the votes are not there.

Well, that escalated quickly...
Here is the problem. Listen very carefully. THERE IS NO INDICATION that people like our parents would be deported under the DA compromise we are all looking for! You are either one of the organization leaders or an innocent dude buying into their bullshit. Those organizations DONT WANT ANY REFORM because they want to continue remaining in business! They are making thousands in donations believe me.

Yeah, i don't know if you guys have been paying attention or not, but the Trump Administration also introduced a merit-based immigration system recently that they would like to implement.

You can't help your parents or relatives if they can't get any points based on this system.

pretty sure we can help other than providing status,

if we can work, like providing food for our families and giving them a roof over their head.

In other words we are going with a bill that will gridlock in congress and keep our immigration issue as a political talking point for future elections.

Pretty much, it's easier to start from a strong arm position where THIS is what we want and you can take it or leave it and then negotiate down, alright fine, we'll give you more money for border security and we'll authorize a few miles of new fence.

You don't negotiate from the bottom because you'll just go down and down and in the end you don't get shit.
