Cuny dreamers get daca renewal fee covered

CUNY student Dreamers facing the strict Oct. 5 deadline to apply for renewal of their DACA immigration status will have the $495 application fee covered on the spot at CUNY Citizenship Now! DACA renewal events, thanks to a partnership with a New York nonprofit that raised funds to pay the fees. Non-CUNY students who meet income guidelines will also have the fee waived; others can secure an interest-free loan, regardless of income.

Where does this hateful bitter jealous mentality come from?

No excuses to not renew.

And some would say you having DACA is a slap in the face to those who came to this country legally. Just like you ask compassion from the US government due to the circumstances that lead to all of us benefiting from DACA, have compassion on those who may be struggling financially to the point where this type of help is a necessity.

NYC is not cheap. Only a NYer can understand how someone who makes 80K or more can live paycheck to paycheck. Stop judging and be grateful CUNY has stepped up big time to help us.

My husband went today to one of CUNY's sessions - kept our expectations low and figured hey, at least it's free legal assistance to look over the paperwork. They looked over his paperwork and then said he qualified for the fee to be covered. This is absolutely a blessing. I will be donating to the New Economy Project nonprofit org that partnered with CUNY for this, specifically for their DACA fund.
