Hey Peeps,

So before DACA, my greatest and longest despair was not being able to travel. I love every aspect of it. Planes, airports, trains, buses, cars aaaand cruise ships. I love ships! Especially cruise ships! Now that I am able to travel domestically, I do as often as financially possible but I always bemoan the fact that I can't take a cruise. It's literally the first trip I will take when I get my US permanent residency. And I fully expected to never set foot on a ship until then. It also doesnt help that I work for a major cruise line part time and I can cruise for practically free.

Well imagine my surprise when I get invited to a special event aboard a cruise ship! Dinner, Tour and Performance for only $75! Finally! I get to set foot on a ship but not actually leave port while still experiencing some of it's appeal! Then I saw the RSVP form that requested my citizenship and driver license. DL fine but citizenship? Why?! If we arent leaving even the port let alone the country why do they need that? And in this current political climate do I dare?

What do you think? I am overracting? Would you go?

Every transportation system needs immigration status, it’s like joining a bank, even though they are located in the u.s they need immigration status for identification but I’m sure your legal presence should suffice if it’s a domestic travel. Be sure to know if it’s a international or national travel. Even if the cruise stops for a short while at another location not in us territory it can be trouble for you. That’s why they ask.

It's not leaving the port...maybe I am overreacting. Its just, when I fly domestically I'm not asked for citizenship so it kind threw me.

That's weird how they require citizenship. From what I read a while ago, DACA recipients can go on cruises so long as they don't go to international ports. If they go from New York to Miami for example, you should be safe.

Unfortunately no cruises stay completely within the US. Except Norwegian's Pride from Cali to Hawaii I think. Thats way outta my price range lol. I think ill sit this one out and be patient. I'm good at being patient as all of us are lol. I will get to go on a cruise soon and travel around the world too.
