I became a LPR this past June. I've live in GA since 2003 and graduated HS in May 2012. I received DACA in October of 2012, and have since then paid GA income taxes and have had car registrations under my name.

I applied for FAFSA and it asked me if I had been a legal resident of the state I reside in before Nov 2012. I didn't know what to put for that answer so I put yes since I have been permanently living in GA since 2003. I looked up online about the definition of being a legal resident of Georgia, or any other state is, and majority of them said you are a resident if you move there to permanently live or been employed, paid taxes, among other things.

I was wondering if there are any LPR (Former DACA holders/undocumented) that have received GA in-state tuition or HOPE/Zell Miller scholarships/other type of state financial aid??

If not, are theret any other LPR that can share their in-state qualification from other states ?

Since you are now a Permanent Resident of the United States, AKA greencard holder, you should be able to. Emphasis on should. I would ask the schools.

Thank you for your answer. I guess I have to wait and talk to the Financial Aid office, but not getting hopes up. Georgia is tough state for immigrants.

I don't know much on this topic but if you have lived in that state for so many years, then you *should* be eligible as LPR.

I would def reach out to your office of admissions at your school. You may have to explain/give them some background without revealing too much or provide additional proof but I am ~85% confident that you are eligible.

Your FAFSA is what determines your need.

Hope is grant so as long as you have a certain GPA you can get it.
My school is going to refund me the out of state tuition once I become a permanent resident.

Thank you all for the replies. I have talked to the financial aid office and they told me I qualify for in-state and HOPE.
