GCs by Christmas. That's all I've got to say.

The momentum may be gone but so is most of the negative media coverage on DACA. This way Republicans may feel less pressure to stop a DACA fix before year's end.

As far as leverage, Democrats still have some leverage in budget talks, and there is some bipartisan support for DACA. A little leverage and a little bipartisan support could go a long way in getting a DACA fix done.

This could definitely go either way. The good thing is there's less than two weeks, and it will be settled one way or another.

What exactly is tough?

The expectation all over the immigrant communities and progressive circles is that Dream Act needs to be passed by next week.

Schumer and Pelosi gave Trump an unconditional continuing resolution three months ago and did what they do best: pretend to work on something while actually doing bare minimum 'meetings'.

I am positive that Dream Act will be signed by 12/22. I don't think Democrats understand the level of backlash coming their way if they do not hold their word.

Sen. Leahy is right that Durbin and Schumer should have gotten to work 5 months ago in July when he filed the DreamAct.

Either they stand up and really fight for this or they will be primaried.

Their outmoded model of 'support' and respect for immigrant communities - paying lip service to reform while allowing the continued crimminalization of our families will force the community to hold them and their apologists in DC accountable.

I'm definitely not a pessimistic person but I remember feeling optimistic back in 2008 watching senate vote on the dream act. The stars were aligning that year for me too. I received full ride to Texas A&M + living expenses based on academic merit (not need-base grants). I thought dream act would surely pass.

Ah how the stars can fool us.

The unfortunate truth is that we will still have to rely on Democrats even if they can't pass the dream act. It's technically not their fault as minority party... we might end up having to wait until democrats take back the majority.

They still have the budget leverage... they just don't seem to be using it for whatever reason... (hint: it's because they want to string immigrants along for as long as possible).
