Yeah, but like everything in government. Wait for the final deal. I have a feeling that if they do change who you can sponsor, parents will still qualify. They will probably get rid of sponsorship for siblings and adult children.

Maybe they should just make parents a group of people who can be sponsored with a waiting time. It seems understandable that a US citizen would want to immediately be reunited with their kids and spouse. But parents? I never truly understood why they were allowed to legalize without the waiting time.

Wow, I'm already paying $50K+ each year to the federal government and I live in constant fear.

Now they're saying they want more?

I don't get the report. Why does it cost so much? How much did DACA cost for 800,000 people each year?

I cannot believe how they came up with 26B. We already are contributing taxes, so that will offset most of the spending / expense already. So raise the application fee. $2k is totally fine and small dent in exchange for a legal status. Do it. Fuck it.

Get Apple/Facebook/Google each contribute $1B.... some rich ass Bill Gates can afford some donation to the government too. If i were Bill, I would do that. Y'all government desperate for $$? I'd donate my money.

The CBO score is how much CHANGE to the budget from a law. The taxes people are paying with DACA does not count, as it is the starting point. If there was a law rescinding DACA then the CBO score would reflect the lost revenue from people losing their EAD's. Cancelling DACA does not get an CBO score because it is not a bill.

Most of the cost over 10 years comes from benefits, Obamacare & Child tax care credits being the largest.

Code:
Health Insurance Subsidies 11.8 Billion
Earned Income and Child Tax 5.5 Billion
Medicaid 5.0 Billion
SNAP 2.3 Billion
Supplemental Security Income 0.9 Billion
Social Security 0.5 Billion
Medicare 0.3 Billion
Higher Education Assistance 0.5 Billion

I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of these articles pop up in the next coming days or weeks. Total BS though

The truth is no poor person contributes. America is too generous with social services. Free school which costs on average the American taxpayer $12,500 per year per child. Free healthcare through the emergency room. Average visit is over $10,000 in cost. Of course direct and indirect social service payments. the legal system also runs on tax dollars

The truth is most Americans don't pay either. Social Security pays out 8 years beyond money contributed. Medicare pays out over 300 THOUSAND more in benefits than it takes in.

You have to legally earned and be taxed 3 million dollars (as an employee because a employer also contributes) in your life just to be zero with what you cost society just in old age benefits in America because of the benefits you receive . Understand that is per person. Why? because medicare taxes are only 1.45% for the employee and the employer. Social security is only 6.2% for the employee and the employer. That is very little money coming in, but the benefits you get back are huge.

Even if Social Security and Medicare took your entire check and you worked to 100 years old you would not have contributed enough to pay your own way.

When other waves of immigrants came here 100 years ago there were no benefits. You made it or you starved. That is why there is a collapse coming because of social service benefits. Every child born and every immigrant that comes here is making the collapse come sooner.

The dollar fine for immigrants to become Americans should be at least 500 thousand per person without kids. That is how much money America pays out in social services per person just in old age benefits.
