Durbin stood with Katherine, a DACA student to plead with the Republican majority to do what he says is the right thing, “It is a long-shot, but we know we have to do it. We have a March 5th deadline looming and we know with Katherine’s story that there are many people watching to see if we can get this done.”

Even though he says it’s a long-shot, Durbin hopes to get his DACA bill passed as a bargaining chip in a bill on budget caps.

It’s only a long shot because they make it a long shot. If they were to hand together they would get the daca fix. Shot in a couple years there will be a million of us voting and guess which way we’ll vote?

If Durbin is talking about the March 5th deadline, then relief ain't happening.

Unacceptable.

The IL congressional delegation is supposedly very pro-immigrant, however, IL is in the process of approving a brand new immigration prison

How can a dead program have a deadline???

Stop spreading misinformation!!!!!

Daca is terminated. People are being phased out daily depending on exp date. It will accelerate after 3/5.

I think the point he's trying to make is that December was our "deadline" and those members of congress who were pushing for a DACA fix. Durbin saying that March 5 is the deadline is like those GOP members saying we have until March to fix it. It's BAD!

Yes, but who is going to do anything about it when we reach that deadline? Democrats won't have their small leverage, and Republicans won't do anything for us.

There's just going to be some outrage, more discussions that won't solve anything, and the whole issue will fizzle out.

If you're expiring right now, it's your fault, you had a chance to renew. Not defending them for not passing something sooner, but just saying we can't play the "people losing their jobs" right now since nobody should be losing their jobs until 3/5, and I hope nobody does.

Exactly this. Not that hard to figure out.

I'm a girl by the way. Not that it matters.
