Seriously, I don't why everyone is happy about this decision. Trump was well within his rights to end this program. If anything, this may halt our momentum towards legalization.

This won't stand at the US Supreme Court. This is the same court that ruled that Trump had the authority to ban migration as he pleased.

DACA was an executive action and the power to maintain it or terminate it rests with the president, not the court.

I don’t know what to think about this. On one hand this can be just what we need to pass legislation ASAP. I do worry that this may tick off trump. I don’t know! @libertarian1776 where you at??

There are pages and pages of legal argument about how it wasn't within his right, so it is up to interpration. Of course, this will be appealed and we have a conservative leaning supreme court so outcome is unlikely to be in our favor.

@seungminkim

Immigration advocates are already warning that this legal win for them could be short-lived and shouldn't lessen urgency on Congress to get Dreamer deal done.

I will have to send my renewal around mid April, will I be able to renew before the supreme court makes a decision?

That's what I don't understand. Will this even take effect, or will will an appellate court just block the judge until it reaches the Supreme Court?

If not and this does allow us to renew, it will probably be months before it reaches the Supreme Court.

Anybody familiar with the appeal process? If this thing never takes effect, then it won’t effect negotiations.

Mine expires in August so I wonder if it would be enough time to renew. Or if we send renewal and SCOTUS blocks this and we lose our money.
