Durbin needed to stand up for himself. Trump's the one who keeps attaching his integrity. I can't believe some of you are blaming Durbin. A compromise wasn't happening even before this, even if the comment hadn't been leaked - not when Cotton & Perdue are invited to the party.

I feel the situation now is either it didn’t happen, or as now, it needs to get bigger. The bigger it gets, the more pressure republicans will feel the need to compromise on something to diminish the negative effect that this shithole is causing. They know ppl will blame them for any immigration failure bc he’s a racist.

Although I understand what you mean. It seems like some people are so sure that a shutdown is happening that are willing to gamble and say “screw trump let’s blow this story up”.

What happens if their is no shutdown and all hell has already broken loose? What good will that be? Wouldn’t we want to calm the storm and keep on with negotiations just in case there is no shutdown?

As much as I hate Trump and I do believe that Durbin wants to help us, I feel that Durbin is not really helping our cause much at this point. What's up with this pissing match? Also why did he and the "bipartisan" group give Trump such a shitty low-ball offer? Doesn't really look like he is serious about making any deals.

IMO, the only Democrat that ever helped us was Obama (by giving us DACA) and that's pretty much it.

That's what I am really afraid of. You and copper have a point. But, as Eva said, this is perfect cover for Dems to shut the government down. The only question is whether the Dems will actually play hardball this time.

I hope Durbin realizes how toxic this shit is to any progress. Kudos on Durbin exposing Trump, but the downside is that we really risk getting fucked over . . . .

Trump won't get impeached with this comment. No criminal charges. Just bad press, which he is used to.

I think Durbin had the midterms in mind, which is more important to him than relief for dreamers.
