I moved to AZ so got AZ license, they somehow determined I had DACA. The expiration date was the same as DACA expiration and they confiscated my 5 year IL license. I moved back to IL and when to get a replacement IL card (I said I lost my old one), the replacement had the date of my DACA expiration. When I went to renew the IL license again, something got flagged, and I had to show them my EAD to renew.

Exactly. This isn’t breaking news directly involving DACA or the dream act. This is a news article involving immigration and someone decided to throw DACA in there. It should go in the lounge.

I’ll let it slide this time. Just don’t do it again please.

Amending my previous post:

You see moizy, here is a good example of what belongs on this section.

http://dreamact.info/forum/showthread.php?t=80510

You see how this is related to DACA/Dream act directly? Next time we post something, let’s think “What would Copper post.”

Considering the situation with Dreamers, the thread is germaine to this forum.

Many dreamers can fall out of status or some have aged-out and could not apply for DACA. Therefore the article is relevant.

I am gonna start blocking individuals who seem to add nothing other than unrelated debate to threads.

Yes,
it was changed after Trump reminded DACA. Now they can actually detain you to ascertain that you have that status. Do you remember that piece of news here that talked about DACA recipients being detained for hours in Texas?

The truth is "Deferred Action" protections only go so far and can be taken away at anytime. Still, if you have proof of being lawfully present they still can inquire if there is "probable cause" for something more.

The Trump administration has changed rules concerning moral character where even being charged for something can create |"Moral Turpitude" thus an individual can loose their protection or a certain status.

Again, Permanent Residency is the only REAL status that has the full gamut of protections under the Constitution.

It deals with immigrants being detained without proof of citzenship near the Florida border very recently. Even if this did not mention DACA specifically or even the Dream Act, it is very relevant because as far as I know, DACA recipients are not citizens and this informs those recipients around that area who are traveling to be vigilant.

I'm not gonna listen to you, you're not the hall monitor round these parts!

As much as I would hate and be really sad to hear it, I wonder if they will find a way to actually detain a current DACA beneficiary with no criminal charges. Would that even be possible? They'd have to let them go right away.

I do remember seeing those news. My worry is though, should we stay quiet and call our lawyers if they ask further questions? I am afraid that if I was ever in that situation, answering further questioning could put my protections in jeopardy. What is your opinion on this? Should we call our lawyers if they inquire for more information or should we just go ahead and answer everything they ask?

True. Under this administration, we are still very vulnerable even while having DACA.
