I think its for the newer people overstaying their visas not necessarily parents who have been here long enough. There is just no way they can round up 11 million and deport them all back quickly.

Here is the proposal.

I think he's fine with the wall for the most part. He said that he'd build it himself if it would help legalize the Dreamers. I think he's just against the other stuff that Trump is asking for. Cuts to legal immigration? It's not hard to see why Democrats would be against that. And it just doesn't sit well with a lot of people to get rid of legal immigrants' ability to sponsor their relatives in exchange for granting undocumented Dreamers a pathway to citizenship. If Democrats agree to that, it's not just nativists that we Dreamers would be up against, we'd also be up against legal immigrants. We already have a long list of enemies. We don't want to add legal immigrants to that list.

Well, I'm the opposite and I definitely support family reunification. My parents have had their applications for a green card through my uncle for 17 years so far (it's a long process) Obviously I wouldn't want my parent's application to be considered null after all these years. You can reply with "Well, if he allows you to sponsor your parents, you can just fix them yourself," but that's ignorant of the fact that Trump himself said we wouldn't get citizenship until at least a decade. I'm not fucking over my parents or the families of other immigrants (not even Dreamers) who have been waiting patiently for their relatives to come over.

This proposal doesn't affect backlogged applications, only new ones, so your parents would be fine.

We are in totally different situations. As i said everyone in my family are citizen except me. So right now my skin is my priority. But good luck to you and your family.

Yeah. Even though I'm a Dreamer and when people tell me Dreamers are good people. I refer to the people on this forum and I tell them that Dreamers are not angels..They are just as selfish as anyone else and you will never see their asses so energetic about another issue because it doesn't concern them. It's the sad truth.

I agree with this. Posts like " we need this to pass to help our parents " make no sense when the guidelines right there say

- more founding for ice and immigration judges

What do you guys exactly think this mean? I am not promoting work permits for our parents I think we all know that's out of the table now. But don't go thinking becoming a citizenship ( well a green card holder first ) is for the best for your parents. No, it's for the best for you and no one else but you.

It's a big cut to legal immigration (I read about 40-50% cut). I don't see Democrats agreeing to this. Also they are taking away the due process of all other immigrants - undocumented, visa overstays, etc, so that's going to be hard to agree to.
