It is disappointing to see how the conversation shifted from "stopping and preventing illegal immigration" to "reducing legal immigration". You can not trade 1 thing for 3 things.

At first, he wanted his wall for Dreamers' legalization. The Collins bill does just that. Now he wants more and more... That is not negotiating in "good faith". And the Democrats know that and they won't go for it. Heck.. Even moderate Republicans won't support it.

Sorry for bursing the bubble... Nothing is happening today...
I agree. Hopefully this shows him to drop his demands for those 2 pillars.

Is what Lankford said true? That the Collins bill lets people who arrived before June 2018 not be targetted by DHS? Why would they add that poison pill?

Because liberal Dems probably pushed for it.

The funny thing is that Trump is going to blame the Democrats after all fails, while they gave him what he is always wanted, i.e. "THE WALL"... Poor leadership whatsover...

And this Congress is so uncapable of doing anything... If it wasn't for Obama, folks would still be in the shadows, we would not even have the conversation about "Dreamers" and fixing "DACA".

I agree with this, except instead of Collin's bill, Flake's bill will have the best chance at passing. That bill pushes dems to the limit, but I think they'll still agree to it. But it won't pass for the same reason the Collins bill won't. Trump wants all his stuff and nothing less.

dems are currently caught in the identity crisis, and this is ultimately what leads a party to fail. dems conveyed or at least want to be a party that represents"dreamers" but at the same time, couldn't keep their caucus together and decided to agree to the budget spending bill claiming that it was a good bill while neglecting any protection for the dreamers.

True, and that is sad... Then what is the point of negotiating then?

You come to the table with a proposal, and you won't budge at all... That is very disingenious...

His mother is basically a Irish maid that got pregnant with a rich guy. At least she hated Donald.

This is so much true. He clearly is not negotiating in good faith because he is stubborn in getting nothing less than what he demands. Changing legal immigration is a topic for CIR, not legalization of dreamers. I honestly do not see anything passing if he doesn't drop the demand to making changes to family reunification. I agree with mostly of what's in the Collins bill but can someone please explain how come the bill protects people who haven't even gotten here in the first place? I saw someone here post something like it would protect people who got before June 2018.
